What you need to know…
Spilt Milk Gallery’s mission is to promote artists who identify as mothers and to empower mothers in the community.
What we did for them the services provided
Lauren, the Founding Director of Split Milk wanted to be able to showcase the artwork of her members as well as showcasing workshops and gallery shows.
This required quite a lot of consideration about how to best showcase these elements.
We also wanted to build in the beautiful illustrations that were created for Spilt Milk by artist Alice Dansey-Wright.
How it went…
With a message of empowering mothers we thought a colour palette inspired by the suffragette movement was appropriate, but we went for a muted version which fitted the modern aspect of both the art and the aspiration of the gallery.
We used the illustrations created by Alice Dansey-Wright to enhance sections and add a tangible sense to the screen.
Custom code was further used to ensure that the gallery showcase would order the artwork in a different way every time someone opened the site. The ordering is completely random and so ensure that all artists are presented equally.
